Managing Courses in Wisepub

Objective

Learning Management System (LMS) allows administrators to create and manage online courses for members. This guide walks through the complete process of setting up courses, from creating categories to adding individual lessons.

Accessing the LMS

  1. Log in to your admin dashboard
  2. On the left-hand sidebar, locate and click on the “LMS” dropdown menu
  3. The LMS is divided into four main tabs:
    • Courses
    • Sections
    • Lessons
    • Categories

Creating Course Categories

Categories help organize courses by topic or subject matter, making them easier for users to find.

Steps to Create a Category:

  1. Navigate to the Categories tab in the LMS section
  2. Click the Create Category button
  3. Fill in the following information:
    • Category Name: The name that will be shown to users (e.g., “Day Trading”)
    • Description: A brief explanation of what the category covers
    • Subscription: Select which subscription plans will have access to courses in this category
  4. Click Create Course Category to save

Once created, you’ll see details including the category name, ID, slug, description, and linked subscriptions.

Creating a New Course

Steps to Create a Course:

  1. Navigate to the Courses tab in the LMS section
  2. Click the Create Course button
  3. Fill in the course details:
    • Admin Title: The title visible to administrators
    • Member Title: The title visible to members (can be the same as Admin Title)
    • Slug: Automatically generated from the title, but can be customized
    • Author: Select the course author
    • Featured Image: Upload an image that represents the course
    • Subscriptions: Select which subscription plans can access this course
    • Course Category: Assign the course to a category
  4. Configure completion settings:
    • Completion Message: Text shown to users upon course completion
    • Completion URL: Link to a page users will see after completing the course
    • Button Text: Text for the button that appears with the completion message
    • Grant Access: Select a subscription to grant users upon course completion (optional)
  5. Click Create Course to save

Editing or Deleting an Existing Course:

  • To edit: Click the pencil icon next to the course name
  • To delete: Click the delete button next to the course name

Managing Course Sections

Sections organize lessons within a course. A course typically contains multiple sections that group related lessons together.

Steps to Create a Section:

  1. Navigate to the Sections tab in the LMS section
  2. Click the Create Section button
  3. Fill in the section details:
    • Section Name: Give your section a descriptive name (e.g., “Basics of Day Trading”)
    • Course: Select which course this section belongs to
  4. Click Create Section to save

Reordering Sections:

  1. On the Sections page, locate the section you want to move
  2. Use the arrow icons to move sections up or down in the display order
  3. The order determines how sections appear to users (top to bottom)

Adding Lessons

Lessons are the actual content units that contain educational material for users.

Steps to Create a Lesson:

  1. Navigate to the Lessons tab in the LMS section
  2. Click the Create Lesson button
  3. Fill in the lesson details:
    • Lesson Title: The name of your lesson
    • Slug: Automatically generated from the title
    • Course: Select which course this lesson belongs to
    • Section: Select which section within the course should contain this lesson
    • Content: Add the main text content for the lesson
    • Excerpt: Add a brief description or summary
    • Featured Image: Upload an image that represents the lesson
  4. Add video content (if applicable):
    • Select video source: YouTube, Vimeo, or Vista
    • Add the video ID
    • Set video duration in seconds
  5. Set the lesson order within its section
  6. Click Create Lesson to save

Course Display and User Experience

How Users Access Courses:

  1. Users log in to their members dashboard
  2. They see available courses on the left-hand side
  3. Clicking on a course shows its sections and lessons
  4. Users progress through lessons sequentially
  5. After completing all lessons, users see the completion message you configured

Progress Tracking:

  • Users can mark lessons as complete
  • Upon completing all lessons in a course, users see the configured completion message and any rewards (like subscription upgrades) are applied
