Overview
WisePub’s trackable parameters feature allows you to automatically append tracking parameters (like UTM codes) to every link posted within your event rooms. This powerful analytics tool helps you track the source and performance of traffic coming from your webinars, events, and other online activities.
How It Works
When enabled, trackable parameters are automatically added to all links shared in your WisePub rooms, including:
- Links posted in chat during live events
- Links in announcements
- Call-to-action (CTA) button links
The system uses cookies to maintain tracking consistency, so even if users return to your room without the original parameters, the tracking codes will still be applied to new links they click.
Setting Up Trackable Parameters
Step 1: Access Settings
- Navigate to your Admin Panel
- Go to Settings
- Select Analytics
Step 2: Configure Parameters
- Find the Trackable Parameters section
- Enter the parameters you want to track, separated by commas
- Click Save
Common Parameter Examples
utm_source, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_medium
You can also use custom parameters like:
email, src, campaign_id, event_type
Practical Example
Let’s say you’re running a webinar and want to track attendees who click on your links:
Your Original Tracking URL:
https://yoursite.com?utm_source=newsletter2025&utm_campaign=superwebinar&utm_content=cta1
When You Post a Link in WisePub:
Instead of posting: https://google.com
Users Will Actually Click:
https://google.com?utm_source=newsletter2025&utm_campaign=superwebinar&utm_content=cta1
Important Behavior Notes
Parameter Preservation
- WisePub does NOT override existing UTM parameters in your links
- If you post a link that already contains UTM codes, those will be preserved
- Additional trackable parameters will be appended to complement existing ones
Example of Parameter Combination:
If you post: https://example.com?utm_campaign=test123
And your trackable parameters include utm_source=webinar
The final link becomes: https://example.com?utm_campaign=test123&utm_source=webinar
Cookie Persistence
- Parameters are stored in cookies when users first join your room for 7 days
- Even if users return later without the original tracking URL, the parameters will still be applied
- This ensures consistent tracking throughout the user’s session and return visits
Where Trackable Parameters Apply
The feature works across all link types in WisePub:
1. Chat Links
Any URL shared in the room chat will automatically include your tracking parameters.
2. Announcement Links
Links included in announcements will have parameters appended when published.
3. CTA Buttons
Call-to-action button URLs will include the tracking parameters when users click them.

- Save your changes
Troubleshooting
Parameters Not Appearing
- Verify parameters are saved in settings
- Check that you’re testing as a regular user (not admin in some cases)
- Ensure cookies are enabled in your browser
Duplicate Parameters
- Remember that WisePub doesn’t override existing parameters
- If you see duplicates, check your original links for existing UTM codes
Analytics Not Recording
- Verify your analytics platform is configured to receive the parameters you’re using
- Check that parameter names match your analytics setup exactly
- Test with a simple link to confirm parameters are being passed
