By using Restream, you can broadcast professional-grade video to WisePub without needing complex software like OBS, while simultaneously streaming to other social media platforms if you choose.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have your WisePub RTMP Credentials. You can find these in your WisePub Creator Dashboard. You will need:
- RTMP URL: (e.g., {your_provided_wisepub_application_url})
Replace {you_given_wisepub_application} with what was provided to you. - Stream Key: Your unique streaming identifier. (Stream in WisePub)
- Authentication Details: Your WisePub Stream username and password.
Step 1: Add WisePub as a Custom Destination
- Log in to your Restream.io account and enter the Studio.
- At the top of the interface, click on + Add Channels (located next to the Portrait/Landscape toggle).
- Scroll down and select Custom RTMP.
- Enter your credentials into the settings modal:
- Display Name: Type “WisePub” so you can easily identify it.
- RTMP URL: Paste the URL provided by WisePub.
- Stream Key: Paste your unique key.
- Use Authentication: Toggle this ON.
- Username/Password: Enter your WisePub streaming credentials.
- Click Save.
Step 2: Configure Your Studio Layout
Before going live, use the Restream Studio tools to prep your show:
- Scenes: Switch between your “Welcome” and “Demo” scenes in the left sidebar.
- Graphics: Upload your WisePub logos or overlays using the Graphics tab on the right.
- Orientation: Ensure your stream is set to Landscape (unless your WisePub membership layout is specifically designed for mobile portrait viewing).
Step 3: Going Live and Monitoring
- Toggle WisePub ON: In the “Add Channels” menu, ensure the switch next to WisePub is blue/active.
- Go Live: Click the big Go Live button at the top of the screen.
- Verify the Feed: Since WisePub is a custom RTMP destination, Restream cannot display your membership chat or viewer count directly in the Studio.Pro-Tip: Keep your WisePub Member View open in a separate browser tab to monitor the stream health and engage with your community in real-time.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Connection Dropping: Double-check that “Use Authentication” is toggled on in your Restream settings. Custom RTMP often requires these credentials to verify your account.
- Lag or Buffering: Ensure your upload speed is at least 5-10 Mbps. You can lower the resolution in Restream Studio (e.g., from 1080p to 720p) if your connection is unstable.
- Audio Issues: Use the “Settings” gear icon at the bottom of the Restream Studio to test your microphone levels before hitting the “Go Live” button.
